How Does This Work?

Sample Letters

These following letters are samples of the communication you could or should have with your potential exchange partner. Download these examples in Word format to get started.*

  • Initial Contact

Give a general description of your land and hunting options, what you are interested in for your exchange and how big your party is.
  • Follow-Up

As soon as you receive a positive reply to your initial contact, you'll want to follow up as soon as possible with a letter like this.
  • Information Sheet

The information sheet is a more in-depth explanation of the hunt you have to offer and your area and will help intrigue your possible exchangers to the next step.
  • Confirmation Agreement

The confirmation agreement should be made before your exchange and lay out the agreement that you and your partner decide upon. If you have a concern, check with your legal counsel and/or insurance agent.
  • Vehicle Exchange

Exchanging vehicles or all-terrain vehicles could be very convenient to both parties and will save on the expense of renting.

*These are samples of letters or other documents that might be useful to you in communicating (or contracting) with your exchange partner. While we have endeavored to provide samples of documents that address a typical exchange, each situation is or may be different. These samples are for background information purposes only. No representation is made that these samples are appropriate for your situation.

As with most any outdoor activity, there is always the potential for a loss to property, or injury to person (including death). We recommend you consult with your own counsel or insurance agent prior to entering into an exchange of any kind.

Note that in some instances you may be "on your own when it comes to a hunt or other outdoor activity (which is often what you and/or your exchange partner are looking for). You or your exchange partner might offer tips or suggestions, show the terrain of the area or the good fishing spots, etc.

Recognize that your exchange partner may or may not be a licensed guide, and that you or your exchange partner may need to investigate whether any licensing, fees, insurance or other requirements are needed or recommended for a given activity. Outdoorsmanexchange.com does not offer such assistance.
